About StreamJam Alpha

StreamJam Alpha is a very early stage release of the StreamJam application. The first live events are being held in StreamJam Alpha to test out this bare-bones implementation as we finish development on the full platform for holding live events on the Web.

Contact us here to use StreamJam for your event now, and stay tuned as we constantly add more to do in and with StreamJam.

What is StreamJam?

When the full version of StreamJam is launched, it will be a perpetual 24/7 online music festival with venues embedded on pages across the Web. Fans will be able to travel between many live events online, meeting other fans, hanging out with their friends, playing games, and interacting with their favorite musicians.

For bands, StreamJam is a free app that makes it dead simple to embed a virtual concert venue into their Web site or social network pages. Bands can broadcast real world concerts, play exclusively to an online audience, interact with fans, and generate revenue via tickets, tips, and virtual goods. Whether you perform from a garage or a stadium, in a rock band or an orchestra, StreamJam can bring in new revenue while giving more to your fans worldwide.

Can I use StreamJam Now?

Yes. We are putting on our first events now and signing up performers for our StreamJam beta event series. Contact us here to schedule an event.

Is StreamJam only for music events?

No. The event platform used for StreamJam is available and can support a wide variety of public and private events. Contact ESC here to inquire about using StreamJam technology for your online events.

More Details

StreamJam, in its alpha release, is currently a Facebook app here. In the months ahead it will be available on other social networks and as a widget embeddable on any Web page (similar to embedding a YouTube video).

Typical StreamJam events involve streaming live video into a 3D virtual space where audience members have avatars, can communicate with each other, engage in playful activities, purchase virtual items, etc.  The live video might be of a real-world concert, a virtual-only concert (e.g. a band playing from a studio or elsewhere directly for a camera), a video chat session or interview of an artist for or by the virtual audience, an album release party, and so on. Other formats will be available in the future that involve musician avatars and other technology for connecting performers more closely with the fans.

NO COST: There is no cost to the event holder (i.e. artist or label).  We host the 3D online experience for free.  The streaming video can be served either by the event holder or by using a free online streaming service.

REVENUE:  The bottom line is that StreamJam enables artists to get into the virtual goods business that is already >$1B in the US + Europe annually and growing rapidly.  Unlike other social media promotional activities, features are in place to make it easy for the event holder to generate revenue from the event.  The event holder can decide whether to charge tickets (e.g. $1 per online participant), have a social tip jar, or sell a virtual t-shirt.  (The Electric Sheep Company, meanwhile, generates revenue separately from selling other virtual goods to end users. In this way, we're dedicated to making the revenue sources above highly successful for artists and event holders.)

EASE OF USE:  StreamJam is an advanced use of Flash, meaning that audience members do not have to download or install any new software to access the virtual events.  Combined with the ability to log in via one's Facebook login (and soon other platform logins), this makes it exceptionally easy for audiences to get into events as well as bring or find their friends therein.  StreamJam is meant to be truly mass market, not simply for the hardcore gamer crowd or experienced virtual world users.

SCHEDULE: Initial test events are taking place in October, 2009.  We are now scheduling events for later in the year and throughout the first half of 2010.  Consider streaming your existing events or having artists connect with their fan base on a regular basis within StreamJam.

CUSTOM IMPLEMENTATIONS: ESC can create custom venues, sponsorships, and event features, as well as entire virtual worlds. Contact us for more information.
